Welcome to the region that gave birth to Rosé wine more than 2,000 years ago!
So you wish to taste the wine in and around Cotignac but don’t know where to start? This article will give you best route to take.
If you are staying in Cotignac, find a driver (like Moov 83 at 0679 43 67 75 – Ludovic has the coolest Tesla and he is not expensive!) so you do not drink and drive. You can ask the driver to pick you up at the Place Neuve just after you’ve started your tasting at the bottom of the Cours Gambetta where you’ll find the now famous and wonderful Mirabeau-en-Provence Wine and their new gift shop full of desirable goodies.
Ask your driver to then shuttle you over to Chateau Carpe Diem on the Route de Carces. After that you can then turn around move onto Clos de L’Ours (just next door) then onto Nestuby, then to Montfort’s Caves de Commandeurs. The Carces cooperative (Hameau de Carces) is also great if you have time.
All the wines mentioned above are made using local grapes in our region and cost between 4 euros and 19 euros per bottle.
Other recommended wine boutiques: The best “wine/gift boutique” in the area must be the one in the little village of Taradeau (between Lorgues and Les Arcs) where you can even find Japanese whiskies, chilled caviar and Russian vodka, St Tropez rosés, a good variety of excellent champagnes and a really diverse choice of gifts from our region. The other one I love is the one next to the Tourist office in La Celle, just a few minutes South of Brignoles (you can stop by the famous L’Abbaye de La Celle there for a luxurious coffee break). Almost every local winery is represented here so you can choose a bottle that fits your taste and needs from the pretty shop.
