Hike up Ste Victoire Mountain from Puyloubier

Just past the village of Puyloubier, this breathtakingly beautiful walk up to a tiny chapel hidden in the cliffs in a MUST DO if you’re a nature-walk-lover! It’s not long nor too difficult – about 30 minutes climb up to the chapel (technically an “ermitage”) and the same amount of time back (it’s important to pay attention to your footing as there are a lot of little rocks but it’s not too steep). The best place to park is in the parking lot of the famous “Le Relais de St Ser”,  a highly recommended auberge (inn) restaurant with a fantastic outdoor terrace (but equally pretty interior) with panoramic views stretching South towards St Baume and the Aurelian mountains. There is a paragliding landing area just next to this parking lot also, so it’s a great place to view this impressive sport too.

To get there from Cotignac (it takes about 45 mins’ drive) head to Brignoles, then take a right at the big roundabout to St Maximin then through the town of St Maximin on the DN7. Take this in the direction of Pourcieux, then Pourrières, then Puyloubier. Go through the village of Puyloubier and stay on the D17 until you see the sign on the right for Le Relais de St Ser. You’ll also be treated to an absolutely gorgeous sight of the South facing side of the Ste Victoire mountain.
