It’s one of Provence Living’s MUST VISIT villages if you visit our region yet it’s one of the least visible (on a map it is hidden behind Parc du Verdon!) making it a bit of a Provence secret. The stunning village, however, is very easy to get to from Cotignac. Plan on spending about a 45 minutes driving and maybe just a little longer in the Summer season.
There are plenty of shops and artists galleries to stroll through, hikes to take, and photo opportunities here but most of all, the scenery is breathtaking and the drive is also very pleasant as you pass the many lavender fields of Montagnac-Montpezat. Moustiers is also home to one of this area’s best restaurants, founded by the famous chef Alain Ducasse (La Bastide de Moustiers – http://www.alain-ducasse.com/en/auberge/la-bastide-de-moustiers). If you dine here, you’d have spent a small fortune but it would have been worth it! On the otherhand, if you’d prefer a more casual dining experience there are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Moustiers. One, in particular that I recommend is even open on Mondays: Call ahead for reservations http://www.restaurant-latreillemuscate.fr/See photo gallery above for some other names of restaurants.
